We’ve been singing, “For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow” ever since Scott Nissen, EA returned from Arizona with his newest credentials. Our very own Scott Nissen, Enrolled Agent (EA), from Bellingham, WA was among 116 tax professionals who recently earned the elite National Tax Practice Institute™ (NTPI®) Fellow designation from the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA). Scott is one of only two tax professionals in Whatcom County who has earned the NTPI Fellow designation. View the full list of December 2021 graduates.

This achievement demonstrates Scott’s dedication to protecting taxpayer rights and attests to his expertise in tax. The rigorous 3-part NTPI curriculum takes no less than 3 years to achieve and it uniquely prepares tax professionals to effectively represent their clients before all administrative levels of the IRS. To earn the NTPI Fellow designation, one must successfully complete coursework covering all variances of examinations, audits, collections and appeals. Fellows also study best practices and role-playing, granting them a deep understanding of the entire tax representation process. This gives NTPI Fellows a very distinctive standpoint from both the client and IRS perspective.
NTPI Fellows have made the commitment to a higher level of knowledge and excellence which further sets them apart. NAEA members are held to a higher standard than the IRS’ minimum 72 hour continuing education requirement. NAEA members complete 30 hours of IRS-approved continuing education hours each year. This means a total of 90 hours for each three-year EA enrollment cycle period.
Nissen and Associates prepares tax returns for individuals, partnerships, limited liability companies, corporations, S-corps, non-profit organizations, estates, trusts and other entities with tax-reporting requirements. Considered the tax advising experts, Nissen and Associates represent taxpayers who are being audited by the IRS, are unable to pay taxes or are trying to reduce or recover penalties.
