About Joe Gloman
Work experience and education has taken Joe’s career down many diverse paths. In 1987 Joe enlisted in the Naval Reserve. In 1988, after graduating high school, Joe completed hospital corpsman training in San Deigo, CA. Joe also worked in the union trades becoming a Journeyman Piledriver in 1995. Shortly after that, Joe chose a path that led him to Central Washington University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1999. In 2003, he earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
In 2000, Joe accepted an accounting position with Howard S. Wright Construction in Seattle, WA, where he managed union payroll, project expenses, and subcontractor invoicing and payments. In 2005, Joe moved to a position at Starbucks where he worked for the license stores division under the Seattle’s Best Coffee label. In this role, he audited expenditures for individual cafe conversions. Joe returned to the construction industry in 2007, becoming a cost accountant with Skanska Construction. Starting in 2014 Joe became a stay-at-home father after son number four was born. The next seven years allowed Joe not only to welcome son number five, but gave him the opportunity to return to his years in trades, and renovate a few residential homes.
Experience
Joe’s ties to the Bellingham area go back more than a century. This is one reason Joe was elated to join the team at Nissen and Associates in 2020. During the tax season you can find him preparing current year tax returns, as well as performing accounting functions for business owners. One thing you’ll learn about Joe is that he always loves a challenging task. As small business owner himself, he is well aware of the challenges business owners face. In the off-season, Joe maintains a part time presence in office supporting the team.
In his off times Joe can be found renovating his own home, attending the sporting events of the last three boys living at home, and traveling around the Pacific Northwest. Joe’s biggest vices are airplane museums and geology – both of which the Pacific Northwest has a lot to offer. Joe also has a soft spot in his heart for stray cats that show up at his back door. Fun fact, Joe names all the cats after Marines.
